Bell Bird Ranch

Here at McLean Falls Eco Holiday Park and Motels we have a new, state of the art woolshed at Bellbird Ranch will give our visitors to the Catlins an opportunity to see a working farm in progress and get up close and personal with the lambs, sheep and cattle that are the mainstay of the farming part of our operation.

Today, there are only five farms left in Chaslands, running sheep and beef cattle. Some of the old homesteads remain in various states of repair. The Catlins Eco –Campground – McLean Falls is part of the 850 acre, Bellbird Ranch farm and supplies the excellent, clover-raised, Texel lamb and Highland beef, which travelers will enjoy while visiting this special part of New Zealand.

The McLean Falls road is located on this farm and an easement has been granted to the Department of Conservation to allow public access to these magnificent falls.

Check out the Texel lambs near the Catlins Bush Frog Country Store. We will be featuring lambs to pet and feed during the summer.

Sometimes, the lambs are abandoned by their mothers, so Mark, our farm manager, ends up rearing a bunch of orphan lambs.

They always want feeding, so we thought you might like to give him a hand?

They smell so nice and love to be petted at any time. Well worth a stop, throughout the day, during the summer lambing season.

Shearing demonstrations will be available as demand dictates.
